Therapy for Adult Daughters of Immigrants
Virtual therapy for high-achieving women who are ready to untangle guilt, perfectionism, and the pressure to carry everything.
Providing therapy to residents of New York, Louisiana, Texas, and Oklahoma.
You’ve always been the one who holds it together.
You are accomplished, responsible, and the person others count on, and you’ve worked hard to build a meaningful life. But beneath the success, you may feel exhausted from always needing to be strong.
Maybe you struggle with guilt when you choose yourself. Maybe you feel caught between honoring your family and becoming your own person. Maybe you wonder why achieving everything you were supposed to achieve still doesn’t feel like enough.
You don’t have to keep carrying these patterns alone.
When Achievement Becomes a Way of Belonging
Many adult daughters of immigrants learn early that being successful, helpful, and responsible is a way to honor their families and protect connection.
You became the caretaker.
You became the achiever.
You learned to anticipate everyone’s needs.
You became really good at adapting, always a chameleon.
Therapy can help you understand these patterns without blaming yourself or rejecting the parts of your culture and family that matter to you.
A Space to Understand Yourself More Deeply
My approach is warm, relational, and influenced by Internal Family Systems (IFS), attachment, and trauma-informed therapy. Together, we explore the parts of you that learned to survive through perfectionism, caretaking, and self-sacrifice.
You can learn to:
Set boundaries without being consumed by guilt
Understand the roots of your perfectionism
Reconnect with your own wants and values
Build a sense of identity beyond achievement
Create relationships that feel more balanced
Therapy That Understands Culture, Family, and Identity
As someone who has lived between cultures, I understand that identity is complex. Many clients come to therapy not because they don't love their families, but because they are trying to find a way to honor their roots while creating a life that feels authentic.
Some FAQs about therapy with me:
-
I do not. Insurance companies require a diagnosis, can dictate frequency and duration of your treatment, and may also audit your private record. Many of my clients are executives, attorneys, or other professionals who would like to maintain a higher level of privacy. By not taking insurance, I am also able to maintain a smaller caseload, which means I give the fullest extent of my energy and dedication to each of my clients. Rather than spend my time on the phone with insurance companies, I can spend my time on our relationship and my clinical advancement.
If you would like to try and use your insurance benefits, you can ask them what their rate of reimbursement is for an out-of-network therapist. You would pay the session fee directly to me, and I will then provide you with a superbill with the information you need to submit a claim.
Here is an article I wrote on how to find a therapist if you are still searching!

The intake (a 60-minute appointment we do one time) is $250. Subsequent therapy sessions (50 minutes long) are $210.

I am licensed in Louisiana, New York, Texas, and Oklahoma and can work with residents in those states. Many of my clients also live in the Arab world. My practice is strictly virtual, allowing ease of access and flexibility for you.
I obtained an Authority to Practice Interjurisdictional Telepsychology (APIT) in 2024, when living in Oklahoma (a PsyPact state). This allowed me to work with clients in most states. I moved back to New Orleans, however, in 2026. Though Louisiana enacted legislation in 2026 and has joined the PsyPact, this will not take into effect until 2028. As such, I will be unable to work with PsyPact state residents until that time. Here is a map that explains more. -
For most people, I recommend starting weekly. This allows us to gain the most traction and build rapport -- and help you feel better, sooner.
Many people eventually move to meeting every other week. I also have several "long-term" clients who like to stay on top of their mental well-being with bi-monthly or monthly maintenance sessions. We will of course discuss this more in depth during your initial consultation and continue to check-in with each other over the course of therapy.

Great question! I see all kinds of people, from all walks of life in my practice and pride myself on an affirming, everyone-is-welcome-here approach. I specialize in shame, perfectionism, and codependency, and I find most people benefit from an approach rooted in discovering patterns in their lives. People with a trauma history, adult children of immigrants, and people who tend to be really hard on themselves often reach out to me, as do those wanting therapy for religious deconstruction, infertility, body image issues, or identity struggles.

Here's a not-so-secret: all of the research clearly indicates that the best predictor of your outcomes in therapy is your relationship with your therapist. My main goal in therapy is to help you feel heard, understood, and cared for. I believe it is my job to meet you where you are, without judgment. I also believe it is my job to do more than nod and say "mm-hmm." If you are looking for a therapist who is warm, supportive, loves both a good laugh and a good cry, and also gives you honest feedback, we might be a good match. I know it is a huge investment of your time and finances to engage in therapy, and I want to honor that by being as helpful and engaged as possible. I draw on relational, dynamic, and trauma-informed practices, and I will often check in to see how things are going for you.

I have a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology, Master's Degree in Clinical Psychology, and Doctorate in Clinical Psychology. I also completed a postdoctoral fellowship at Tulane University and was hired by the Tulane Counseling Center after completing my fellowship.
I am licensed by the Oklahoma State Board of Examiners of Psychologists (License #1388), the Texas State Board of Examiners of Psychologists (License #38193), the Louisiana State Board of Examiners of Psychologists (License #1336), and the New York State Education Department Office of the Professions (License #028132).
I worked in residential facilities, private and state hospitals, university counseling centers, community mental health centers, and intensive outpatient facilities prior to venturing into private practice. I have also developed group curriculums and workshops for many of these settings, other businesses, and schools. My work has been featured in online publications, and I have been the guest on several podcasts and news segments.
You have spent years taking care of others and meeting expectations. Therapy can be a space where you begin to understand yourself, honor your story, and create a life that feels like your own.
