About Me

Hi, I'm Dr. Rosette Elghossain. As someone who was born with a definite helper archetype and deep interest in human stories, it was only natural I eventually found my way into this field. During my student years, I loved putting the puzzle pieces of the human experience together. And as a practitioner, I still have a passion for this. I like to serve as a mirror for people to reflect on the reasons they are who they are.

My life has been wonderful in many ways -- for which I am grateful. It's also been tough. I was born in the US, the middle child of two Lebanese immigrants. We shuffled back and forth between Lebanon and the States during my early years and eventually settled down in Lebanon. I was exposed to a rich, irreplaceable cultural heritage; and I was also exposed to a shame-laden society as a girl and young woman, one full of strict rules and double standards. And, because I never quite fit in anywhere, I was bullied in most schools I attended and never felt 'good enough.' I've since worked through my own shame and perfectionism and proudly live in a more harmonious, peaceful internal world. Helping others do the same gives me hope that we can all become better humans, community members, and leaders.

I attended the American University of Beirut (some of the best years of my life) and, after graduating with High Distinction, moved back to the US to earn my Master's and Doctorate in Clinical Psychology at Florida Tech, where I graduated as the Outstanding Clinical Student in my cohort. I completed a predoctoral internship at Louisiana State University and the state hospital forensic unit, eventually moving to New Orleans to complete a postdoctoral fellowship at Tulane University, where I was then hired as a staff psychologist and tasked with creating the counseling center's first marketing and outreach program. It was then I realized my passion for public speaking, group education, and consulting.

I met my husband -- a deeply patient, honest, and adventurous man who has learned enough Arabic to charm my grandmother -- in New Orleans. We lived there for several years and eventually found our way to Oklahoma, where he is from. We travel as frequently as possible -- often to Beirut to see my family and New Orleans to see our friends. In 2024, we will be visiting both of those, as well as Spain and Morocco. I speak English and Arabic fluently and know enough French to pass as a local if no one looks too closely. I thoroughly enjoy spending time outdoors hiking, walking, and will never say no to a dip in the sea. I find the smell of coffee intoxicating but cannot bear the taste (not even in tiramisu!), so if you ever see me with a mug, it's definitely Earl Grey or an herbal tea. My most favorite thing to do is be in the kitchen. I love to both cook and bake and am at my happiest when I'm feeding people. What's more Lebanese than that?
